In 2001, when one of our partners graduated in Graphic Communication at the prestigious Laval University in beautiful Québec City, he was dreaming about working on the accounts of GM and McDonald’s. Immediately after he finished his studies, he was hired by Platine Communication to work on a wide variety of accounts, from the smallest to the biggest such as Labatt, one of the leading breweries in Canada. His dream was fulfilled, but he eventually found his passion working on smaller accounts where he could really use his creativity to solve specific communication challenges and truly measure the impact of his work by the success of his assigned clients.
He eventually got offered an exciting challenge by a medical software company to rebrand them from scratch, an experience that was the defining point for his vocation and then moved south to Los Angeles where he worked for Traffik, a local branding firm. He was primarily assigned to healthcare and beauty accounts, which a year later led him to join forces with two partners wishing to start a creative services firm devoted to the needs local businesses in Orange County, California.
One day he was invited to speak at a networking event for small businesses. While he was introducing its company, a participant turned to him and said, “So if I get you right, you tell me that you can make my company look big.” He answered, “Yes.” Then the gentleman said, “This is what I want to hear, how the pretty things you will design will truly impact MY business.” The small business owner had voiced what he and so many others were looking for in a creative company.
From then on, Powerplay devoted its whole practice to one purpose; giving small and medium-sized businesses the look they need to take their game to a whole new level by benefiting from the talent and knowledge of top industry pros at a price they can afford.
In 2008, Powerplay successfully launched the image of two sub-branches of National Security in New York, allowed a local commercial detergent manufacturer to go national and much more.
